R.I.P. Ray Manzarek, the end, Astrology of rock legend by Tara Greene

I was sad to hear that co-founder, organist and bass player of the Doors Ray Manzarek passed on May 20.

I was a huge Doors fan and got to see them perform live when they first released Light my Fire in a small C.B.C. Toronto studio in 1967 with a maybe a hundred people or so in the audience. I also saw them play two more times and met them twice backstage. I have  a nice photo of Ray which I will scan and post.

Ray's signature organ music, he played bass and lead, certainly is the mainstay of the Doors sound. Jim was the writer and leader, but the two really coalesce the powerful Doors music sound. Of course John Densmore and Robby Kreiger also made the entire group what it was.

Ray Manzarek was an AQUARIAN born February 12 1939 Chicago Illinois 3:30 am.

Ray had the SUN in the 2nd house of resources conjunct his Mercury-planet of communications. He was an age of Aquarius kind of guy. An innovator, a genius, worked well in groups and a great organizer.

MOON in SAGITTARIUS at 6 degrees is conjunct Mars at 8 degrees in his 12th house. This is  a very spiritual placement.  Ray's was a fiery emotional and spiritually driven man. His drive {Mars} was to awaken and inspire people. His Music was honest, inspiring, philosophical, all-encompassing.

Close to the Galactic Center. This placement makes people visionaries because they are really tuned into a HIGHER REALITY and vibration. They are metaphysicians of one sort or another. Touring, travelling and seeing new places was something  Ray must have loved. I am certian he was very well read.

 VENUS his artistic talents was at 6 degrees CAPRICORN in the 1st  house of self.

He loved to work, he was ambitious for success and a practical disciplined hard worker.  Serious reliable and responsible. He was probably the rock of the doors. Jim was the flagrant leader and wild man poster boy poet. Ray always wore suits in true Capricorn style. He was also a serious film student, meeting  Jim Morrison at UCLA film school.

Ray had JUPITER at 9 degrees Pisces also in the 2nd house of resources. Jupiter is the traditional ruler of  PISCES and SAGITTARIUS. Pisces is the sign of all artists, musicians, creatives. His musical resource was SPIRIT itself. May have been some addictions issues there as well. Playing the organ, an instrument usually reserved for churches also shows the religious nature of his art.

SATURN at 14 degrees ARIESs at the bottom of his chart on the IC.

Ray ws serious about doing his own thing.  His dad must have had a strong influence on him. He had great energy and initiative and a unique communications style. He was meant to be an entrepreneur and the King of his own domain.

PLUTO at the 29th Critical degree of CANCER he was born at the end of the Cancer Pluto generation. He was emotionally intense and loyal, Protective of his friends and family and his privacy.

NEPTUNE in the 9th house is in VIRGO at 22 degrees Retro.

Neptune is the highest elevated planet and shows him as a creative/musical teacher, film maker, philosopher, globe-trotter, eclectic in his approach. A  mystical man,a dreamer, a romantic, a work aholic, a perfectionist who honed his craft to the Nth degree.

URANUS is at 14 degrees TAURUS in his 5th house of creativity

Uranus rules his Aquarius SUN & Mercury. The signature of an original pioneering person, who walked their own path. The 5th house is the house of creative self-expression as a gift of Love.

Ray's NORTH NODE was at 12 degrees of SCORPIO in the 10th house.

A SCORPIO north Node says that Ray's highest goal was to be an agent of deep emotional change, rebirth, transformation. Death, the shadow, the deep dark secrets, taboo's, was part of his worldly fame. His music was the accompaniment for Jim Morrison's deep dark sexy poetry/songs. Ray's playing was an integral part of the musical depths to which the Door's took its listener's. It was dark, taboo, THE END. 

AT his DEATH

Ray died of bile cancer in Germany. He was private about his struggle with Cancer. He left his wife of 45 years, a son and three grandchildren. The recent SOLAR ECLIPSE of May 9 was at 19 degrees TAURUS and fell in a square- hard aspect between his Mercury and SUN. Solar eclipses change the nature of a person's Identity. The Uranus- Pluto square also fell 2 degrees from his SATURN close to his IC. Endings, roots.  NEPTUNE at 5 degrees PISCES was squaring his MOON in the 12th house. A beautiful return call home to spirit.
